my story

Hillwood Art

Batiks and oils by Roberta Winjum

I studied art as an undergraduate at the University of Missouri-Columbia.  I then changed paths to become a librarian. which led to jobs in Missouri, Kansas, Hawaii and Tennessee. At this point, I've returned to art, rediscovering a love of color, specializing in crayon batik as well as oil painting, and incorporating my life experiences.

The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider's web.

  ~Pablo Picasso

Painting is a solitary activity, and my subjects often reflect similar solitude and peace. The beauty and serenity of nature are my comfort and inspiration.

I hope you will  find my works comforting; maybe even inspiring.  Please browse my  portfolio of paintings  and  batiks.
