Hillwood Art

oIl PAIntings and Batiks by Roberta Winjum

my story

I studied art as an undergraduate at the University of Missouri-Columbia.  I then changed paths and became a librarian. which led to jobs in Missouri, Kansas, Hawaii and Tennessee. At this point, I am returning to art, rediscovering a love of oil painting and crayon batik.

The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider's web.
  ~Pablo Picasso

Painting is a solitary activity, and my subjects often reflect similar solitude and serenity. M y time in Hawaii and my love of boats, beaches, water, and nature are my influences.

I hope you enjoy my work. Please browse my portfolio and batiks from the tabs above.
